Beautiful Bariloche – in the Argentinian lake district – seems to specialise in chocolate and beer.
Oh, and hiking, cycling, fishing and general outdoor loveliness.
But mostly, in our case, it was the home of the completely-disproportionately-large-for-our-hotel-room hot tub:

As well as curious (greedy?) bird-life knocking on our patio windows every morning:
Despite the hot tub, we did in fact leave the room from time to time:
Day 1: A hike via Playa Bonita and Bahia Serena to a couple of micro-breweries: Blest…

…and Berliner:

Returning just in time to make ourselves presentable for a charming dinner of local fish (trout for me, salmon for Noah) at El Patacon, next door to our hotel. The food was good but the puddings were excellent:

Day 2: Visit to town to change some money at one of the ‘official unofficial’ casas de cambio that change entirely openly at the ‘blue’ rate, before taking a bus towards the ‘Llao Llao’ peninsula with the plan of renting bikes and cycling the ‘Circuito Chico‘.
After a delightful lunch in this Heidi-like pretty lake-side, mountain-view restaurant it started to get rather wet and windy,
so instead we took a bus to the peninsula and hiked around in the nature reserve instead, where it was nice and sheltered by trees like this one:
Day 3: Fishing trip to Lago Mascardi and the surrounding area. We got a taxi to drop us at the lakeside and then we hiked and fished our way to a picnic area where the same driver collected us. On the way we met a nice Argentinian couple who shared some wine with us. Sadly, no fish were caught…

…although the views were spectacular.
